In the Islamic tradition there are 99 names or attributes of God. These names are called "Asmaa al Husna" in the Quran, which means "The Most Beautiful Names". These attributes of God describe the characteristics of God to Muslims and through them Muslims can get to know God and they strive to attain some of those characteristics in themselves.
